Published in December 2020 by entrepreneur and investor Jason A. Williams, Bitcoin: Hard Money You Can’t F*ck With is an entertaining and beginner-friendly read. Written following the 2020 economic crisis, this book conceptualises the impact of economic printing by the federal reserve and highlights the role that Bitcoin plays in countering this subsequent inflation.

Arguably the most popular Bitcoin book, The Bitcoin Standard is one of the most concise and easy to comprehend books about Bitcoin. Utilising his economics background, author Saifedean Ammous chronicles the history of money, from its inception to the emergence of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
While the book can get quite information dense in some parts, it presents money and economic principles in a sound and easily comprehendible manner. Making it applicable to a wide audience with varying degrees of background knowledge.
Explaining the concept of money and its history, the author makes a compelling case for why cryptocurrencies may very well be the next evolution of money. As such, for people who want a more thorough understanding of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and money as a whole, this book is highly recommended.

Written originally as an article by software engineer Vijay Boyapati, The Bullish Case for Bitcoin was recently expanded into a book to highlight the potential of Bitcoin as an emerging asset class and global reserve currency.
Similar to the other books on this list, The Bullish Case for Bitcoin highlights the fundamentals of Bitcoin and its evolution as a new form of money. However, the book extrapolates further on Bitcoin as both a store of value and as a medium of exchange. More interestingly, it does this by providing a clear and concise comparison between Bitcoin, Fiat (government issued currency) and Gold. Presenting an comprehensive outlook on each asset class and their future merit.
Despite being relatively short, this book does a great job of explaining the potential of Bitcoin as an emerging asset class and how it can compete with and even overtake traditional forms of money, such as Gold and the USD. It is available for free on Kindle for Kindle Unlimited members. Alternatively, you can buy it in paperback here:
While many books attempt to explain Bitcoin by going in depth on the history of money, this great little book explains the technology behind Bitcoin. Coming in at just over 100 pages, the author Yan Pritzker manages to cover complex topics such as game theory, cryptography and computer science in a concise and easy to comprehend manner.
For people looking to gain a more technical understanding about Bitcoin, blockchain, cryptography, mining, hashing and the math and physics surrounding Bitcoin’s inception and proliferation, this is the best book that I’ve come across.
Applicable to layman and people with a background in computer science and cryptography, this book is great for quickly learning the fundamentals surrounding Bitcoin and its creation. To date, there have been hundreds of books written about bitcoin and cryptocurrency. While many overlap, there are specific nuances that make them more applicable to different readers. However, these are the 5 books that helped me delve into the cryptocurrency space and understand Bitcoin and blockchain technology.
If you are wondering why these books are for the most part based primarily on Bitcoin, it’s because it is the origin of cryptocurrency and represents a paradigm shift in the banking and financial system. Numerous innovations have spanned from Bitcoin, including decentralised finance (DEFI), oracle networks, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), smart contract platforms, privacy and gaming tokens.
While these are all revolutionary products, there is currently a limited amount of literature surrounding these tokens due to their constantly evolving nature. As such, the majority of cryptocurrency-related literature is based upon Bitcoin and rightfully so, it is the progenitor of a financial and technological shift.
The following are books that provide further information surrounding Bitcoin and the Cryptocurrency space. While not in my top 5, these books provide great insights into the space and may touch upon other aspects of cryptocurrency that these books may overlook or neglect.
